Made it to Christchurch!

After 35 hours of travel, we finally made it! It's their summer here so today it was sunny and 75, we could not have asked for a more beautiful day! We got to our hostel at 3:30 pm and instantly made friends with some Australians who let us follow them around the city. The town is still recovering from the earth quakes that happened in 2011. Many shops are now giant storage containers or old freight train cars, but it gives the town a lot of character. After some search we found a place where we got our New Zealand phone numbers and data and found a market to buy our breakfast for tomorrow morning. It's now 9:30 pm and the sun is still up! It's crazy and I feel like I'm missing out on something exciting, but Hannah reminded me that we have our whole trip to mingle with fellow backpackers and right now we need to fix the jet lag problem.
One of the many parks in Christchurch, in this one, full grown men were riding tricycles
The city is still trying to rebuild major buildings, it's a slow process because it's so expensive to fix. The last picture is of the cathedral that they are reconstructing.
